“You have been so wonderful to work with on this. Throughout the process you have been incredibly sensitive to the patient experiences and have represented them beautifully in the film. Thank you for pulling their stories together so well. I have learned so much from you!”

Dr Emily Ross

Falling is a collaboration between Northover&Brown and Dr Emily Ross from Sheffield University, a film which shines a spotlight on women’s experiences of molar pregnancy, a little known condition and form of gestational trophoblast disease (GTD), a group of rare conditions that cause tumours in pregnancy.

The animated film uses Emily’s sociological research to convey the shock and confusion of diagnosis, the feeling of limbo between pregnancy and disease and the relentless and exhausting cycle of hormone monitoring that patients experience.

We were so pleased to have been approached by Emily and to be able to raise awareness of the impact of this condition. A huge thank you to all the women who shared their stories of molar pregnancy and GTD as part of the research.

You can find out more about molar pregnancy and other forms of GTD at https://stdc.sites.sheffield.ac.uk and learn more about Emily’s research here; https://www.gtdresearch.com/
